Mid-summer and the city is bursting with fresh produce available from our local farms. I’m lucky enough to live near one of the last farms on the island of Montreal. We get a weekly organic vegetable basket through D3Pierres, which offers farm work experienced for troubled youth in need of a positive work environment at the farm at Cap-Saint-Jacques. Using natural north facing light, my reflector and my new macro lens, I have some more “Farm Fresh” shots for my stock photography portfolio.
The local eggs are magnificent! Check out the colours! I have not done any crazy photoshop colourization those eggs were multi-coloured included the beautiful turquoise.
Never seen purple spring onions before! Love the colour. I can’t wait to see the unbeatable local garlic later in the summer. If you haven’t had local garlic only the standard Chinese import, you really must seek it out at a local farm or veggie stand, the taste is remarkable. I even saw some Quebec grown garlic at my local Metro last summer, it might be more expensive, but you only need a third of what you normally use, because of the intense flavour.
