We love visiting Avonmore Berry Farm, not only do they make the BEST home made pies right there in their multi-purpose barn, but they produce beautiful local vegetables and fruit. The kids go nuts for the play area in the barn that has ropes and slides and tons of hay, but us grownups want to go back for what is in season (and the cinnamon buns – no local produce in that item though!). A few weeks ago we were there for the Strawberries; Mom, Dad and I found that making our favourite freezer jam together is much less painful than one person slogging it out by themselves. We each have our special jamming task.
I wanted to try photographing more red produce, so strawberries were my next victim. I found that red is a colour that sometimes loses it’s detail in a shoot. I adjusted my lighting more subtly this time, because the red is so easily overexposed. I think I got it this time!
Next up from Avonmore farm? The sweetest corn I’ve ever tasted, magnificent local garlic (heaven!), apples and then finally pumpkins. Avonmore Berry Farm has a full list of “What’s in Season” on their website.
