Little Zephy is another perfect example that helps destroy all the stereotypes about Pit Bulls. Even though facts clearly disprove preconceptions, one of the most ingrained prejudices about the animal world is that Pit Bulls are vicious creatures, dangerous for everybody except for their owner. Breed can obviously define part of its nature, but being born a certain race of dog does not mean an animal is born vicious.
This pretty little girl was a challenge to photograph as her incredible curiosity kept her on the go, but in those moments of stillness I feel I captured her sweet nature. Zephy was found by the Kahnawake Animal Protection team roaming in the town along with another Pit Bull type dog. She was likely dumped due to the pit bull ban in Montréal. This week lucky Zephy has found a family to love her forever!
I would like to point out that all dogs photographed are tagged and collared for their security and in public places on a leash. For the sake of capturing the essence of their dogginess in their portraits without distraction I photoshop out all distractions.
